• 1989-Asphalt Busters formed in Phoenix, Arizona, to offer asphalt pulverizing and recycling services to paving contractors. The owners, Dan and Connie Selby, brought with them 13 years of experience gained from operating a grading and paving business. The company started with three employees and one pulverizing machine.

  • 1992-Based on the company’s experience in working with various soils, Asphalt Busters purchased soil stabilization equipment and began to promote the benefits of several soil stabilization methods.

  • 1997-Asphalt Busters built a 5,800 square foot office and shop facility to accommodate the growing demand for pulverization and stabilization services. Asphalt Busters had grown to nine employees and four pulverization/stabilization machines and supporting equipment.

  • 1997-Asphalt Busters purchased lime slaking tanks and started offering lime slurry for soil stabilization.

  • 2001-Asphalt Busters was awarded the contract for one of the largest lime slurry stabilization projects in Arizona. They stabilized the soils for building pads and parking lots on a 100 acre warehouse and distribution site.

  • 2006-Asphalt Busters worked with the owners of the Palo Verde Nuclear Power plant to provide cement stabilization for the soil under a 45-acre water storage pond. The job required 200 truck loads of cement, 1.4 million gallons of water and generated 40,000 cubic yards of stabilized soil.


Asphalt Busters has grown to be the largest asphalt pulverization and soil stabilization contractor in Arizona. Our equipment includes 11 pulverizer/stabilizers, 7 stabilization spreaders for both dry and slurry and all of the necessary transportation and support vehicles. In 2006, our 40 crew members completed over 400 projects for 120 different customers.
