Tax Payers Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars

By incorporating cement stabilization in their designs to rebuild dirt roads to meet the requirements of the PM-10 regulations, MCDOT has proven that with proper engineering design and using good construction methods, more miles of roads can be completed sooner and at less cost than using conventional methods.

The process detailed in the photos below, involves the following:
  • At low water crossings, constructing a concrete ribbon on both sides of the road and placing 4” Of ABC and 2” of Asphalt in the crossing.
  • Pulverizing the entire roadway and mixing with water so that the potholes and areas where the rocks and sand have segregated are blended with fines to make a uniform material.
  • Grading the roadway to establish proper drainage.
  • Spreading cement, injecting water and mixing 6” deep.
  • Finish grading and compacting.
  • Applying a chip seal.
